Sustainable Design & LEED |
HLB's approach to integrated lighting design solutions is to enhance the visual experience while preserving the natural environment. Our long standing commitment to sustainable design goes back four decades and continues even stronger today with the addition of a highly skilled team of LEED accredited designers in all of our four offices. In response to continual advancing technological and evolving environmental codes, we developed a full service Daylighting/Sustainable Design Studio to enhance design opportunities that forge architectural decisions. Our team is headed by Hayden McKay, a greatly respected, leading industry expert in the field of daylighting and solar analysis combined with a proven history of successful lighting design projects. Approximately half of our design staff are LEED Accredited Professionals, and we are committed to designing projects as an integral process - combining energy conservation, daylighting and architectural lighting design into dramatic and energy-efficient solutions. HLB is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council and through working with organizations such as the Department of Energy, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the IESNA, we remain involved in the community and dedicated to green practices. We believe a successful project starts with a creative vision, comprehension of the functional needs, strong technical expertise, solid interpretation of the constraints, and an understanding of new technologies to fulfill the client's expectations. HLB has been recognized by several prestigious awards and acknowledgments over the years for our ability to meet and exceed this high standard of sustainable design quality.
