Bradley West & Midfield Terminal Modernization designed by: Fentress Architects
As part of the multi-billion dollar modernization plan, the $575 million TBIT Interior Renovation project at LAX seeks to improve operational efficiency, enhance customer satisfaction, and upgrade security and safety systems at this international gateway. The renovation is the most extensive capital improvement project undertaken by LAWA since the 1984 summer Olympics, and consists of approximately 515,000 square feet of refurbishment to the upper/departure and lower/arrival levels. Our work with Leo A Daly consists of lighting design for the “meeters and greeters” hall, ticketing lobby, departure and arrival holdrooms, apron, and concourses, security screening checkpoint and baggage screening area, as well as the custom and border protection area. Anticipated completion for this project is 2010.
In addition, HLB is also collaborating with Fentress Architects and HNTB led design team on the Bradley West project for which the airport will add six gates at the Bradley West Terminal by the end of 2012. This terminal will accommodate current and next generation jets such as the Airbus 380 and Boeing 787 in addition to doubling its size to 2 million square feet, including new retail and lounges. The Midfield Terminal, consisting of 10 to 16 gates, will be connected via a skybridge and will supplant the remote airfield gates that are currently utilized for International flights. The entire project is anticipated to be completed within seven years.
