Sandy Lane Golf Clubhouse & Resort

Barbados, West Indies

The two-story 40,000 square foot Sandy Lane Golf Clubhouse and Resort is situated in St. James Parish, Barbados presenting views of the Caribbean Ocean and two new world-class golf courses.   HLB collaborated with Johnson Fain on the design for both exterior and interior lighting.   The temperate climate allows interior and exterior spaces to flow into one another with seamless connections to the landscape.   When day turns to night, architectural forms come alive to create a dramatic welcome.

The team's goal of simplicity and elegance is achieved with discreet recessed pinhole downlights bathing the rich architectural materials and furnishings with incandescent light.    In complement to the sparkling ceilings, washes of light provide focal accent to ceiling coves and backlit onyx features.   These features repeat at various scales throughout, providing subtle variations in the quality of light.
