Ritz-Carlton Kapalua Renovation
Maui, Hawaii
HLB worked closely with SB Architects and interior designer Philpotts & Associates to design this extensive $130 million dollar renovation of the luxury resort. Our scope included the guestrooms, condominiums, spa, restaurants, lobbies, fitness center, pool area, preview center and landscape amenities areas. The inspiration of the renovation was the natural rugged beauty surrounding the resort, as well as the historic Hawaiian culture. A palette of indigenous materials from the islands was extensively used to better reflect this sensibility.
Our lighting scheme is subtle where concealed fixtures were used throughout to accent the beauty of the natural materials, not the fixtures themselves. Some special features of the project include the backlit LED glass wall and integral bar lighting at the restaurant, as well as the prominent overlook which frames the direct view of the ocean beyond. The spa and spa treatment areas are relaxing and tranquil, with dimming for each room to ensure each guest's complete comfort. Exterior path lighting ensures safety at night with a place to explore and gaze at the stars.
This renovation truly makes each guest feel immersed in a luxurious island paradise.
