PUMA

San Francisco , California

The goal of the design team for this project was to quickly convert a 1950's jewelry store into an active, vibrant store with extensive branding and appeal to a broad range of age groups and personalities.   Color and interior lighting create a beacon.

At canopies, fiber optic pinpoints create pattern and sparkle while concealed fixtures provide increased horizontal illumination at the entry.   Uplights under red acrylic panels outline the edges of display windows and uplights graze the texture of new concrete.   High color rendering halogen sources, T5HO fluorescents, ceramic metal halide and colored lenses reinforce the merchandise and striking white and red architecture typical of Puma's newest stores.

Upstairs, soothing blue light from rooftop floodlights washes through the skylight.   Lighting is more subdued for the presentation of an up-scale line of women's clothing.   Cashwraps and display cases included integral lighting on both levels.

This project was built in eight weeks with an equally tight budget. The variety of lamp types was minimized to simplify relamping.   Low voltage, fluorescent, and HID sources improve light levels while providing efficiency and long lamp life.   A timeclock reduces loads significantly after hours.
