Morphosis Centre Pompidou Exhibit - "Continuities of the Incomplete"
Paris, France
The Morphosis exhibit at Centre Pompidou, titled the “Continuities of the Incomplete”, was a multi-sensory experience featuring models, photographs, video, and sound. A subtly sloped 2,640 square foot glass and aluminum structure acted as the display platform and walking surface, allowing visitors to look down through the glass onto miniature models of the firm's major works, as well as video screens featuring interviews with Thom Mayne. Visitors don “Morphosis slippers” and were invited to “traverse the glass” in a tactile and interactive manner, witnessing the evolution of Morphosis' architecture and design process.
The platform itself along with the media contained within were to be the points of interest, thus the optimal lighting solution would reveal the platform as a glowing work of art, while also clearly displaying the works within. Concealed LED fixtures with crisp white light and a broad distribution provide the proper light quality for the 3D experience. Further value is added with the small size and matching aluminum finish which blend the fixtures into the environment, keeping focus on the show and not the equipment.
