Hamilton College New Unified Science Center
Clinton, New York
Hamilton College is a liberal arts college with an emphasis on individualized instruction and independent research. Working closely with Einhorn Yaffee Prescott, HLB designed the lighting for the expansion atrium to the existing 1920's building that encompasses a south facing glass “box” attached to the existing building. Our analysis evaluated daylighting penetration, load shedding, control strategies and glazing treatments. Our study proved effective and helped save on initial environmental/architectural costs as well as long-term energy usage.
In addition to the daylighting studies we designed the lighting for the new building expansion including classrooms/labs, student commons and faculty offices with energy conservation, budget and design image. The standards we set helped achieve NYSERTA program requirements for the tax rebate program.
