Bloomingdale's San Francisco

For their flagship store on Market Street in downtown San Francisco, HLB Lighting Design worked with RYA Design Consultancy to create an intimate and specialized shopping environment for this iconic retailer.

With over 338,000 square feet, Bloomingdale's wanted a unique design point-of-view represented on each of its five levels.  To infuse a bit of history, the black and white checkerboard flooring on the street level calls to mind the original Bloomingdale's on 59th street in New York City. Contemporary Women's Fashion, on the third level is highlighted within a modern, bright space and Bridge and Designer Shops on the second level incorporate the retailer's traditional dramatic black enframement.  Throughout the store, natural daylight and pops of theatrical lighting work cohesively with the retailer's signature elements to create this bold, sophisticated space.
