HLB Los Angeles:  Senior Lighting Designer

As one of the pioneers in the field of architectural lighting design, our award-winning firm, HLB Lighting Design, has been at the forefront of innovative design for more than 40 years.  Our projects consist of a diverse and exciting portfolio of work and we are seriously passionate about what we do.  Our Los Angeles office is currently seeking a Senior Designer who loves lighting design as much as we do.  Are you a dynamic, creative, detail-oriented, and self-starting individual who enjoys new challenges and consistently seeks growth?  We are looking for candidates with strong project management abilities, great interpersonal skills, and the ability to oversee all aspects of a project from concept through close-out, as well as mentor junior design staff, and participate as a key studio team member.

 

We seek the following qualifications in a candidate:

 

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in architectural lighting design, including a minimum of 2 years experience in managing projects
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in architectural engineering or related field (theatrical lighting, interior design, architecture, building systems, etc.)
  • Strong client and project management skills
  • Experience designing a wide variety of project types and sizes
  • Experience mentoring and leading junior design staff
  • Strong time management, organizational, and problem solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy and commitment to quality work
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and handle multiple tasks concurrently
  • Proficiency with AGI, InDesign, Photoshop, MS Office, and AutoCAD
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required
  • Commitment to sustainable stewardship within design process
  • U.S. Resident
  • IALD and/or IESNA professional memberships are a plus
  • NCQLP and/or LEED AP certifications are a plus
