Bloomingdale's - SOHO

HLB Lighting Design approached the lighting of Bloomingdale’s 90,000 square foot SOHO outpost in a 19^th century building in New York’s SOHO district with a sensitivity to its size, its historic materials, and its abundance of natural light. HLB Lighting balanced and expanded the lit environment with the use of concealed perimeter lighting and indirect cove lighting. HLB Lighting worked with a local industrial designer on the large, multi-tiered mobile-like chandelier that hangs below an industrial skylight in the fragrance room. The design architect exposed existing beams and columns through openings in new dropped ceilings on the upper floors, providing an opportunity to conceal accent lighting for visual displays.
