As an exciting new state-of-the-art addition to the District of Columbia Public Library system and part of an HLB multi-office Daylighting & Sustainable Design Studio collaboration, this two-story, vibrant civic space was designed to meet a wide range of community needs.  HLB worked in tandem with the Freelon Group on the $10.3 million, 22,000 square foot structure that features separate children’s, young adult, and adult areas, as well as a large collection of print and non-print resources, many points of access to public computers and wireless stations, and multiple-sized meeting rooms.  This environmentally friendly center is pursuing LEED Silver certification.
