LEED®AP
Executive Vice President, COO
Stephen
Lees is a Senior Design Principal with broad experience in all project
types. Mr. Lees spearheads the firm's projects which require integration
of daylight or analysis of energy management strategies and environmental
impact. He has developed the firm's computerized analysis capabilities
which support the overall lighting design process. Mr. Lees also acts
as director of human resources and oversees the development of educational
and technical programs which ensure high design standards. In addition,
he manages the firm's overall operations and financial matters.
Background
Mr. Lees was born in Ithaca, New York. During his years at the University
of Connecticut, he concentrated on technical aspects of theater to provide
a strong base for his major area of interest - scenic and lighting design.
Mr. Lees' experience prior to joining the firm includes lighting several
productions funded by the Shubert Foundation, and designing lighting for
the Conservatory Balls at the New York Botanical Garden in the Spring
of 1975, 1977, and 1978. In addition, he served as Resident Designer and
Technical Director at the Lenox Arts Center. His theatrical background
enables him to manipulate the abstract world of conceptualization and
design. This ability, coupled with his technical knowledge, allows him
to conceive and develop dynamic and efficient designs. Since joining the
firm in 1976, Mr. Lees has been responsible for the lighting design and
management of many large scale projects: corporate office complexes, building
exteriors, urban streets and parks, multi-use arenas, airports, sports
facilities, environmental impact studies and projects which have incorporated
daylighting.
