Angela L. McDonald, IALD, IESNA
Senior Principal

As a Senior Design Principal, Ms. McDonald's responsibilities include project management and design from concept development to completed installation. Her years of experience in theater and themed entertainment design add a high level of creativity to her work along with attention to detail and quality. Ms. McDonald's inter-disciplinary education in theater engineering incorporates her artistic talents with technical training and expertise to provide cohesive and innovative solutions to all types of design challenges. Ms. McDonald is responsible for the daily operation of the San Francisco office.

Background

Ms. McDonald was raised in Sweetser, Indiana. Prior to joining Horton Lees Brogden in 1995, Ms. McDonald worked for five years as the lighting designer for Walt Disney World Architecture & Facilities Engineering in Orlando, Florida. Prior to that, she was active as a lighting designer for regional dance, opera, and theater projects. Ms. McDonald's body of work encompasses a wide range of projects including lighting design for universities, entertainment venues, resorts, historic renovation/adaptive re-use, restaurants, offices, master planning, retail, facades, museums, theme parks, landscapes, and site development.

Professional Affiliations
Ms. McDonald is a Professional Member of the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) and an active member of the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES). She presently serves on the Board of Managers and has assisted with IIDA judging. In addition, she has taught several IES educational courses and is frequently invited to conduct presentations of lighting topics for related professional organizations.
