HORTON LEES BROGDEN LIGHTING DESIGN ANNOUNCES NEW PRINCIPALS

 

HLB is pleased to announce the appointment of a new Senior Principal and Principal.

 

Angela McDonald, IALD has been named Senior Principal.  Angela joined Horton Lees Brogden's San Francisco office in 1995 and has headed the office for the past 7 years.  She graduated from Purdue University with a B.S.E. in Theater Engineering.  As a Design Principal, Ms. McDonald's responsibilities include project management and design from concepts to completed installation.  Her experience in theater and themed entertainment adds a high level of creativity to her work along with attention to detail and quality.  Her inter-disciplinary education in theater and engineering incorporates artistic talents with technical training for cohesive and innovative solutions to all types of design challenges.  Ms. McDonald is responsible for the operation of the San Francisco office.  Ms. McDonald's body of work encompasses a wide range of projects including resorts, restaurants, retail, facades, historic buildings, offices, airports, landscapes, and site development.

Ms. McDonald is a Professional member of the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD). She has served on the Illuminating Engineering Society Board of Managers and IIDA judging. In addition, she instructed several educational courses and is frequently invited to speak on lighting topics for related professional organizations. She has received multiple awards for her work including the IES IIDA Award of Merit for Novartis Institute, Chihuly Bridge of Glass, Levi's Flagship Store, and Pier One/Port of San Francisco Offices as well as and IALD Award of Merit for San Francisco City Hall.

John Dunn, LC, IALD is a Principal who joined the Los Angeles office in 1995. Mr. Dunn graduated from the University of Colorado with a B.S. in Architectural/Illumination Engineering. As an integral member of the design team, John Dunn is involved in all phases of a project, from schematic design through construction and post occupancy. Mr. Dunn works on multiple project types including large and small scale site development, sports facilities, convention centers, concert halls, educational facilities, museums, corporate offices, retail spaces, and residences.

 

Mr. Dunn is a Professional Member of the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD), Member of the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA) and is Lighting Certified (LC) by the National Council of Qualifications for Lighting Practitioners. In addition, he has been an Instructor at the Southern California Institute of Architecture.

 

Mr. Dunn has received the IES/IIDA Award of Merit for his work on University of Santa Monica, Santa Monica, California, Benaroya Symphony Hall, Seattle, Washington, Colburn School of Performing Arts, LA, California, Safeco Field, Seattle, Washington and University of Santa Monica, Santa Monica, California.
