HORTON LEES BROGDEN LIGHTING DESIGN WELCOMES NEW DESIGNERS

Zoe Garaway joins our Los Angeles office as a member of our new Product Design and Development team. Coming from a family of architects, Zoe holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Architecture from the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc). Her breadth of experience includes architectural, graphic, and furniture design, as well as public art installations. Zoe has served as a board member on the Venice Land Use & Planning Committee and a member of the SCI-Arc Academic Council where she assisted in developing programs for inner city and SCI-Arc students.

 

Alexis Schlemer has joined our Los Angeles office as a senior designer. A trilingual (English, French & Spanish) native of Paris, France he brings to HLB over 15 years of experience in the architectural lighting design and television lighting design industries. Alexis holds a Brevet de Mairrise from the French Guild Chamber in addition to an Associate of Art Degree for Interior Architectural Design from Santa Monica College where he graduated with honors. He is an associate member of the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) and has received two Illuminating Engineering Society IIDA Lumen West Awards of Merit for his innovative lighting design work.

 

Claudia Andrea Saavedra Meza , a native of Santiago , Chile , has been a lighting designer for over 5 years. She received an architectural degree from Catholic University of Valparaiso (UCV), in Valparaiso , Chile and an MA in Lighting Design from Parsons School of Design. Claudia worked for HLB/eLumit from 2003-2004 and has rejoined the NY office as a full-time designer.

 

Maria del Pilar Toro-Ortiz joins our New York office. She received a Masters degree in Architecture & Associated Degree in Graphic Design from the Parsons School of Design and a B.S. in Architecture degree from Catholic University in Washington , DC . She is currently a candidate for a Masters of Fine Arts in Lighting Design at Parsons School of Design. Maria is a member of the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America, the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) and is an Associate Member of the AIA.

 

Takanori Taira, a designer with the San Francisco Office, recently joined HLB after graduating from Pennsylvania State University with an Integrated Bachelor/Master's Degree of Architectural Engineering with a minor in Architecture and Peace Studies. He is a native of Tokyo , Japan and is fluent in both Japanese and English.

 

Brian Franco joins our San Francisco Office after graduating from Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering. For his senior thesis, he completed a schematic analysis and redesign of the Dover Downs Hotel and Casino in Dover , Delaware . Brian spent the summer of 2005 as an intern in the San Francisco office, and has now returned as a full-time designer. Brian is a student member of IALD and IESNA.

 

Leia Kozel joins our San Francisco Office as a Junior Lighting Designer. She holds an MFA in Interior Architecture and Design from the Academy of Art University, and a BS in Environmental Science from Ball State University . She is teaching Interior Design classes at Canada College in Redwood City , California
