WASHINGTON STATE CONVENTION & TRADE CENTER

The renovation and expansion of the Washington State Convention & Trade Center In Seattle, Washington included a new pedestrian sky bridge and canopy that extends across Pike Street. The canopy and bridge can be viewed from the market at the end of Pike Street and were illuminated to create a glowing “beacon” for the new portal into this historic area of Seattle between the WSCTC and Pike Street Market.
Horton Lees Brogden Lighting Design worked with LMN Architects on this design which, in addition to the exterior sky bridge and canopy, included a new lobby and pre-function spaces. In the lobby high color rendering metal halide downlights were utilized for general lighting. At the escalators lensed, compact fluorescent downlights were used in a denser pattern to draw occupants to the circulation corridor. High color rendering metal halide spot lights and wall washers highlight the exterior canopy's structural members, and metal halide pendant downlights provide general illumination on the exterior sky bridge walkway.
